During this MTB vacation you will get to know many facets of this beautiful and versatile country, such as Turkish culture, nature, history, not to mention the delicious food and Turkish hospitality. In short, a trip you will think back on for a long time upon your return to the Netherlands.

Day to day

After arriving at Dalaman airport, our driver will already be waiting for you with a chilled bottle of water and will take you in about 45 minutes to the accommodation for the first 3 days in Fethiye. You will stay in a small-scale, typical Turkish hotel run by a hospitable Turkish family who also speak Dutch. Fethiye is situated on a beautiful bay and surrounded by the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. Fethiye still has an authentic center, called Paspatur, where you will find all kinds of stores and a fish market surrounded by restaurants where your purchased fish is prepared into a delicious meal. The ancient amphitheater is located at the end of the boulevard, near the port. The amphitheater at the port and the Lycian rock tombs, remind of the rich history of this area.

Overnight stay in Fethiye

During the first ride of your cycling vacation, you will take you around the peninsula and is truly beautiful. The road undulates up and down here and around every bend you have a view of another bay. The route then continues on unpaved forest trails to the Greek ghost village of Kayaköy. The inhabitants disappeared after being forced out in the 1930s but the houses still stand as a silent reminder. The tea house around the village square is an exquisite place for the lunch you brought. Unpaved paths with beautiful views of the coastline will bring you back to civilization and cycle back to the hotel via the promenade of Fethiye.

Overnight stay in Fethiye

Today’s route introduces you to this region’s mining past. Many beautiful tracks we owe today to small-scale chrome mining, early last century, in the hills in the region.

You will cycle along old mining roads through hilly terrain with several tough climbs. Halfway through, you will reach the village of Uzumlu; a great place for lunch. There are several eateries and stores here. You will then continue cycling through the forests with beautiful views of Fethiye Bay. After a long descent you will cycle through an agricultural area back to Fethiye

Overnight stay in Fethiye

You will cycle today to the next overnight location in Göcek. You will cycle along the promenade along the beach of Fethiye and between the orchards to the Green Valley. You cycle deeper and deeper into the valley where the trails are occasionally very steep. Rugged landscape and immense rock formations form the backdrop here. Make sure you have plenty of water and food with you because you won’t encounter anything remotely resembling civilization along the way. What a contrast to the fashionable Göcek you descend to at the end. Göcek is home to many luxury yachts and has a number of cozy restaurants.

Overnight stay in Göcek

Today’s focus is mainly on the first part of this bike route. You will follow the coastline, just outside Göcek where there is considerable climbing for 10 km. After the descent you will reenter civilization and pass the town of Dalaman and also a good place for the break. Then you will follow the Dalaman River and cycle through a beautiful valley with orchards. After a considerable climb, you descend with a beautiful view of the protected beach of Iztuzu where sea turtles lay their eggs in season, deep under the sand. Dalyan is a tourist resort and is located on a river delta. Tomorrow you can enjoy a well-deserved day of rest

Overnight stay in Dalyan

There is plenty to do around Dalyan such as visiting the ancient sites of the Karan city of Kaunos. In ancient times, this was an important port . a fully catered boat trip with lunch, visit to Iztuzu beach and a beozke to the beneficial mud and sulfur baths is also highly recommended. Of course, you can also lounge by the pool or spend a day at the beach.
Overnight stay in Dalyan

On the last bike ride of your vacation, you will be introduced to the agricultural hinterland of Dalyan. The area is known for the many different types of fruit growing in this area. Halfway through, you get another tough climb in front of your wheels. But the reward is worth it with a magnificent view of Lake Köycegiz.

Upon returning to the hotel, you can take a moment to enjoy this special cycling adventure.

General information

During this MTB vacation you will get to know many facets of this beautiful and versatile country, such as Turkish culture, nature, history, not to mention the delicious food and Turkish hospitality. In short, a trip you will think back on for a long time upon your return to the Netherlands.

The base is the Turkish port town of Fethiye and is located right on the Bay of Fethiye and enjoys great fame among Turks from Ankara and Istanbul due to its beautiful location. The first few days of your off-road trip you will stay in a small-scale hotel run by a hospitable Turkish/Belgian family. Fethiye is located at the spur of the immense Taurus Mountains, making it a very nice area to go out and explore through the surrounding nature. It is also a town with many cozy restaurants where you can enjoy the world-famous Turkish cuisine. There is also plenty to see such as the Roman amphitheater and the royal tombs of King Amintas from the Lycian period before the era.

The hinterland of Fethiye.
The hinterland of Fethiye is a true mountain bike paradise. You can cycle for a whole day here without encountering a human being. On the 4th day you will cycle to the next overnight location in Göcek via paths that were used for small-scale mining at the beginning of the last century. Göcek is a small port for luxury ships with plenty of dining options.

Located on a river delta near Lake Köycegiz, Dalyan is a tourist town with a vibrant nightlife. The river delta near Dalyan is a protected nature reserve and Iztuzu beach is a well-known breeding ground for several turtle species such as the Caretta caretta. The hinterland of Dalyan with the imposing Sandras Mountains is a fantastic area for MTB riding.
