The trails on…

The first 2 days of your hiking vacation you will stay in the cozy port town of Fethiye. Fethiye is still a real typical Turkish place and is a bustling place in both summer and winter and enjoys great fame especially among the Turks themselves. You will stay in a cozy family hotel run by a Turkish/Belgian family.

Fethiye is located on a beautiful bay surrounded by the foothills of the Taurus Mountains with a cozy bazar with all kinds of stores. On Day 2 you will hike around the Karagözler Peninsula with a succession of beautiful bays and vistas.

A village with a special history: open-air museum Kayaköy

You will stay 3 nights in Kayaköy. A special place where over 9 generations of Greeks lived. Kayaköy was still Greek in 1923 and was then called Levissi. After the forced exchange of people, the Greek inhabitants had to leave this place and the hundreds of houses on the slope stand empty. The cozy hotel in Kayaköy, equipped with swimming pool and delicious cuisine, is the ideal base for taking walks through this beautiful region, such as a hike to the world-famous Oludeniz Bay and Afkule Monastery.

You will end this hiking vacation wherever you started it: Fethiye. While hiking in the area, you will discover a mix of culture and nature. Of course, the ancient sights in the area are not missing.

You will hike the routes using GPS navigation. Some walks do not start at your accommodation. During these routes, we provide transportation.

The hikes are suitable for the recreational hiker and are mostly on well-traveled paved and unpaved trails. Some hikes are a bit more technical due to the rocky terrain.

During your hiking vacation, we will take care of transporting your luggage.

Day 1

Arrival at Dalaman airport

Our driver will take you to the first hotel in Fethiye for the first 2 nights. The hotel is fully equipped and has a lovely pool. Within walking distance is the promenade with numerous restaurants and cafes where it is especially pleasant to relax in the evening.

In the center of Fethiye is the old town center, the Paspartur, where you can stop at one of the many restaurants at the fish market. The ancient amphitheater is located at the end of the promenade and the lyrical rock tombs of King Amyntas, recall the rich past of this area.

Day 2

Peninsula hike. (13km, 300 meters up/ 300 meters down)

After breakfast, it’s time for the first hike of your vacation. Our driver will take you to the starting point of the walk; the Fethiye Shipyard. You’ll feast your eyes on this place where boats are pulled across the street onto land for repairs. New wooden boats are also built here; a feat of craftsmanship. After the shipyard, walk around the Karagözler peninsula with its beautiful bays and vistas, in short, a feast for the eyes.

Day 3

Hike Fethiye to Kayaköy (12km, 450m ascent/ 300m descent)

You will walk along the promenade to the higher king’s tombs, above Fethiye. An ancient Greek path leads you to the valley of Kayaköy. Arriving at the top, you can already see the ruins of the abandoned ghost town of Kayaköy on the slope. In the valley, you also have the opportunity to see some beautifully preserved Lycian tombs before reaching your accommodation.

Day 4

Walk to Gemiler Bay (12.5km) or walk to Afkule Monastery (14.5km)

Today the choice of 2 different walks. The walk south takes you to Gemiler Bay with fine views of St. Nicholas Island. The walk west leads you to the remains of the monastery of Afkule. This monastery is carved into the rock. The views of the coastline are truly breathtaking.

Day 5

Kayaköy-Oludeniz-Kayaköy hike (14km)

Today, unfortunately, is already time for your last day in Kayaköy. A spirited hike is planned. From the hotel, you walk through the old ghost town of Kayaköy and immediately go uphill quite a bit. Arriving at the top, the reward is there: a magnificent view of the rugged coastline with the world-famous Bay of Oludeniz in the distance. Oludeniz lies at the foot of 2000-meter-high Mount Babadag and is an eldorado for paragliders. The bay is truly of serene beauty; hues of aquamarine and turquoise predominate here. On the way back there is a substantial climb through beautiful nature, back to the overnight location in Kayaköy.

Day 6

Kayaköy-Fethiye hike (14km, 275meter ascent/ 350meter descent)

After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Kayaköy and walk back towards Fethiye. Unpaved forest trails interspersed with beautiful vistas form today’s backdrop. After the descent, you will arrive back in Fethiye and walk back to your hotel in Fethiye via the amphitheater and the promenade.
