Provence by bike - a journey full of fragrance, color and culture

Discover Provence at its finest on this varied cycling vacation past atmospheric villages, rolling landscapes and cultural highlights. You start in elegant Aix-en-Provence, where you immediately taste the southern French atmosphere among fountains, markets and cozy terraces.

Day to day

You have arrived in Aix-en-Provence! Stroll through the charming streets of the old town, follow in Cézanne’s footsteps and enjoy a relaxing moment on one of the many cozy terraces. You will stay one night in Aix-en-Provence.

Overnight in Aix-en-Provence.

Today begins your cycling adventure towards beautiful Silvacane. Along the way, a visit to the impressive Cistercian abbey of Silvacane should not be missed. You will then cycle past some of the most beautiful Provencal villages on your way to Pertuis.

Overnight in Pertuis.

A beautiful and slightly more challenging stage awaits you. You cycle through the breathtaking natural park of the Luberon, with an altitude difference of about 700 meters. The reward is a wonderful descent towards Céreste, after which you continue along the impressive massif of the Grand Luberon to Apt.

Overnight in Apt.

Once again you will trek through the beautiful natural park, cycling past picturesque villages such as Bonnieux, Lacoste and Ménerbes. Taste the typical joie de vivre of southern France, where life is lived just a little slower and more intensely under the warm sun. At the end of the day you will reach the romantic Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, known for its atmospheric water mills.

Overnight stay in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or in the immediate area.

Via Cavaillon you cycle to charming St. Rémy, perhaps the most characteristic town in Provence. Get carried away by the lively streets, colorful markets and the smell of Provencal herbs. You can choose a shorter route (approx. 35 km) or a longer variant via Avignon, where you can admire the famous Palace of the Popes (approx. 55 km).

Overnight in St. Rémy.

From St. Rémy, you’ll first bike to Les Baux-de-Provence, a spectacular medieval village perched high on a cliff with breathtaking views of the countryside. Then you continue your route through the picturesque, rolling countryside of the Alpilles. You end in the atmospheric Salon-de-Provence, a charming town with a rich history.

Overnight in Salon-de-Provence.

Start the day with a leisurely stroll through Salon-de-Provence and visit, for example, the impressive Château de l’Empéri or the collegiate church. Then cycle back to Aix-en-Provence via Pélissanne, Lambesc and Éguilles. A wonderful conclusion to your trip.

Overnight in Aix-en-Provence.

After breakfast, this unforgettable trip comes to an end. Individual return trip or extension of your stay is possible.
