Aachen – Monschau (56 km)

At the Aachen Rothe Erde train station, the Vennbahn begins. This former railroad was bike route of the year in 2014 and will take you to Monschau today. Almost imperceptibly, you ascend 250 meters on this ride, almost imperceptibly because the gradient of the Vennbahn is a maximum of 2%. Along the way, be sure to visit the monumental Kornelimünster. After you leave the agglomeration of Aachen, the natural beauty becomes more and more beautiful. Monschau – Bütgenbach (26 km)

In the morning, take time to stroll through historic Monschau. From Monschau, it first goes up on a beautiful bike path along the Rur River. Once you have reached the height of the Vennbahn, it goes gently sloping through and past the Hoge Venen nature reserve, one of the last preserved bog landscapes in Europe. Today's route is not very long so plenty of time for a trip to Robertville, a town formerly known for its peat cutters but now, of course, because of its impressive reservoir. Then it continues to the next reservoir, that of Bütgenbach. This is where you will spend the night today.

Bütgenbach – Gerolstein (51 km)

Yesterday you left the Vennbahn behind you and followed the RAVeL45a for the last stretch to Bütgenbach. Today this beautiful bike path will lead you through Büllingen towards the German border at Losheimergraben. Almost imperceptibly you pass this border and from this border you cycle on the Kylltalradweg. ' This bike path winds you mostly down along the little river Kyll. Be sure to visit the town of Kronenburg today with its beautiful historic center and ruins above. Via other nice towns such as Stadtkyll and Jünkerath you will continue on to the mineral water town'. Gerolstein.

Gerolstein – Bitburg (39 km)

From the mineral water of Gerolstein, it's on to the beer of Bitburg today. That's a great prospect! Along the way, you will pass through small, idyllic towns like Birresborn, Mürlenbach, Densborn and Kyllburg. Today's stage has short steep climbs of about 100 – 300 meters in length and long comfortable descents. Beyond Kyllburg, your biggest challenge awaits: a 2.5 km climb with hefty gradients. The equally steep descent at the end of this climb is a welcome reward. Do you not like this piece? No problem, in Kylburg you can catch the train to Erdorf, the town at the end of the descent. Both stations are on the route and this train ride makes the route 6 km shorter. From Erdorf, continue your route again to the town known for Bitburger beer. So a delicious beer is a nice reward for this bike ride.

Bitburg – Trier (64 km)

From Bitburg, start with a lovely long descent to the Kyll and soon follow the bike path along the river. You will again cycle through a varied environment; open landscapes with beautiful vistas, on narrow cycle paths with water and forest alongside you and through picturesque villages. The Kyll and the railroad always remain nearby. Those who leave early still have plenty of time to explore Trier. This city is still full of Roman influences with the Porta Nigra, the amphitheater, the terhmen and the Basilica. The Kyll flows into the Moselle here so for those who don't want to go home yet, there are still plenty of options.
