Kalavarda is a quiet village on the west coast, a stone's throw from the ancient city of Kamiros that is definitely worth a visit! Kamiros dates from the 6th century BC and was rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 226 BC. During an earthquake in 142 nC, the city was destroyed again and then abandoned. It was one of the three most important cities of Rhodes in ancient times.

Day trip Petaloudes (35 km)

On the first day of cycling, the bike route passes the Petaloudes butterfly valley (butterfly season June-September). The butterflies, a rare subspecies of the Spanish flag, are in great numbers on the trees and leaves, sometimes rows thick. During this summer rest period, they do not eat; you must not disturb them because when they fly up they tire themselves too much to reproduce later.

Kalavarda – Embonas (33 km)

Through the castle of Kritinia you will cycle to Embonas; a beautiful cycling route directly along the uninhabited coast. Embonas is the next stage location of your cycling vacation. This is the wine town of Rhodes, situated against the flanks of the Ataviros. There are several free wine tastings.

Embonas – Archangellos (44km)

Today's stage takes you to the east coast of the island. Today's route undulates constantly up and down, making it probably the toughest ride in this part of the cycling vacation. Along the way are Apollonia and Platania, nice authentic villages for a coffee stop.

Archangellos – Lindos – Archangellos (46 km)

To Lindos, take a day trip by bicycle or line bus. This famous white town is beautifully situated on a double bay. The town is made up of narrow streets, covered in the summer to keep out the heat. It is touristy and very crowded in high season, but well worth it in early and late season. The small white houses and larger captain's houses from the 16th to 18th centuries are a sight to behold.
The Acropolis is at the top (115m): You can walk there or be transported on a donkey. From here you have a beautiful view of the bay. You will find Byzantine cisterns, the castle of the Order of St. John, a Hellenistic stoa and the temple of Athina Lindia.

Archangellos – Rhodes Town (38km)

On the last bike ride on Greek Rhodes, you will cycle along the east coast. The first place of interest are the fairytale baths of Kalithea. From the golden-yellow beaches of Afandou, you will overlook the Tsambika Monastery, perched on a prominent rock. You will spend the night in a beautiful old hotel in the Old Town. In Rhodes Town you can walk right into the Middle Ages: the impressive city from the Crusader period has been particularly beautifully restored.

Rhodes -Fethiye crossing and transfer to hotel.

The hydrofoil crossing takes about 2.5 hours. Our driver will take you from the port to the hotel in Fethiye. You will stay in a small-scale, typical Turkish hotel run by a hospitable Turkish family who also speaks Dutch. Fethiye is situated on a beautiful bay and surrounded by the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. Fethiye still has an authentic center, called Paspatur, where you will find all kinds of stores and a fish market surrounded by restaurants where you bought fish is prepared into a delicious meal. The ancient amphitheater is located at the end of the promenade, near the port. The amphitheater at the port and the Lycian rock tombs, remind of the rich history of this area.

Peninsula round trip (24 km) and/or farmland route (41 km)

You can choose from 2 different bike routes today. The bike ride around the peninsula is truly beautiful with many azure bays and beach bars where you can enjoy a chilled drink. The beautiful coastal road winds through the landscape, going up and down. During the Farmland Route, you will take a beautiful bike ride through the farming hinterland of Fethiye and cycle through the valley on narrow roads. The route is also characterized by the many authentic villages where it seems as if time has stood still.

Green valley route (37 km)

The first part of today's bike route you will cycle along a coastal bike path to the beach area of Fethiye. On the promenade you can enjoy a cup of coffee. You will then cycle through orange groves and follow the river upstream into the valley. We picked a lunch spot right on the fast-flowing river. Everything here comes from our own garden and the homemade bread and olives taste delicious. This is truly Turkey at its best!

On the way to Dalyan (40 km)

Breakfast is followed by an approximately 30-minute transfer to the starting point of today's bike route. The route begins with a descent, then cycles through a mostly flat area to the lively Dalyan, located on a river delta by Lake Köycegiz. Here you will stay two nights in a cozy hotel with pool. In the evening you can seek out the crowds or you can opt for the many waterfront restaurants.

Round trip Dalyan (30 km)

Today is a day of choices. You can take a bike tour of the area, cycling past the many pomegranate plantations, or you can take a boat trip visiting Iztuzu beach, the authentic town of Kaunos and the beneficial mud and sulfur baths on the shores of Lake Köycegiz. But of course you can also laze by the pool or spend a day at the beach.

Dalyan – Köycegiz (40 km)

Today you will leave Dalyan northward and cycle through the agricultural hinterland of Dalyan through ancient villages. The soil here is very fertile and in this area you will find many fruits. Köycegiz is a wonderful place to stay and is located right on the lake of the same name. It is hard to imagine that this place has lost its popularity to Dalyan over the years.

Köycegiz – Dalyan (35 km)

The last day of cycling in Turkey is all along the shores of the lake, back to Dalyan. Along the way, you will pass villages such as Hamitköy. These villages were inhabited early in the last century by Indians who worked here in fruit farming. Some of the houses still have a braided structure and were made by Indian workers. The course is hilly on quiet roads. The ferry takes you back to the other side of the river so you cycle the last bit back to the hotel in Dalyan
